ST. LOUIS, MO – On Thursday, May 21st, Family Care Health Centers (FCHC) cut the red ribbon to open its third location, a new, 27,000 square-foot health care facility in St. Louis’s Dutchtown community, while also celebrating its 57th anniversary.
FCHC staff and leadership, community partners, elected officials, and the designers and constructors of the building including Trivers, Kadean Construction, and Navigate Building Solutions attended the company’s event, on the corner of Grand Boulevard and Chippewa Street, where the Old St. Anthony’s Hospital formerly sat.
“Family Care Health Centers is a safety-net provider in the St. Louis region,” said Dr. Aramide Ayorinde, FCHC’s Chief Executive Officer. “With the addition of this site, we plan to provide health care services to 25,000 patients in our community each year, moving forward.”
At the event, Dr. Ayorinde and other FCHC leadership including Chief Operating Officer, Eric Radichel and the President of FCHC’s Board of Directors, Wilma Schmitz, spoke to event attendees, exciting and reconfirming the company’s commitment to providing affordable and accessible comprehensive primary care services to even more families and individuals.
They were followed in speeches of well-wishes and congrats by these community partners and elected officials:
- Kimberly McKinney, Chief Executive Officer, Habitat for Humanity
- Joe Pierle, President, Missouri Primary Care Association
- Victoria Anwuri, Commissioner of Health, City of St. Louis Department of Health
- Kanika Cunningham, Director of Public Health, St. Louis County
- Alderman Shane Cohn, Ward 3, City of St. Louis
- Mayor Cara Spencer, City of St. Louis
- Kristina Lê, Office of Congressman Wesley Bell (MO-01)
After the speeches concluded, FCHC leadership and board members, along with community and elected officials gathered for the official ribbon cutting at the main entrance to the new facility.
Once the ribbon was cut, FCHC accepted a framed resolution from Missouri State Representatives Steve Butz (District 81) and Elizabeth Fuchs (District 80), extending their congratulations to FCHC on its milestone expansion as an organization that is committed to “compassionate, affordable healthcare for all Show-Me-State citizens.”
“Dr. Ayorinde came to us a few years ago and challenged the board, the staff and the community to a different level, and we’re getting there,” said Wilma Schmitz, FCHC’s Board of Directors. “The board is here to serve.”
Event attendees then enjoyed detailed tours of the new FCHC Dutchtown location led by the company’s staff and executive leaders. They also dined food from three local food vendors, while enjoying music via High Class DJs, and took fun pictures at the company’s logo-themed backdrop and decorative balloon display honoring the company’s 57th anniversary.
“Family Care prides itself on the quality of care that we provide, and the impact it has on our community,” said Dr. Ayorinde. “This state-of-the-art facility and the services that we provide here sends a clear message that the underserved communities deserve the best.”
FCHC’s Dutchtown office is now open. Appointments for primary care, pediatrics, expanded behavioral health services and more are available for children, youth, adults and seniors, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Beginning June 30th, WIC and nutrition services will begin at this office, and in July FCHC’s pharmacy will open to fill prescriptions at this location.
